Individual Agency and the Power of Pendulums

The world we live in is a place of shifting, transforming. Like attracts like. Light attracts Light…It is as if someone put us through a sieve, gradually separating what used to be one into many. In this new and unfamiliar space it seems important to become aware of the laws that govern Tribe. This concept might seem primitive, yet it is quite foundational for human behaviour and nature. Understanding the unseen puppet strings that pull it, is even more so…

Pendulum

Tribe is more than a matter of ethnicity. It is an energetic entity. The notion of a Pendulum, introduced by my countryman Vadim Zeland, sheds significant light on the role and place of an individual within and outside of  Tribe, or sometimes caught in between.(The bulk of this essay is an interpretive rendition of a portion of Vadim Zeland’s book Transurfing Reality, which I highly recommend.)

A pendulum is a group of likeminded people, united in their values and perception of reality, vibrating within the same energetic field. A pendulum is similar to an egregore, but is much more complex in its operation and impact. It trains a person out of choosing their own destiny, having them abdicate their Agency in subtle, but destructive ways.

The primary distinction of a pendulum is that as an insatiable vortex, it is only concerned with retaining as many followers as possible. However, the concern FOR the followers, is nonexistent. What counts in the pendulum game is not so much the devotees, but their sheer number. After all, “there’s strength in numbers”, is there not? Who in their right mind could defy the “number’s game”?!?

Suppose, one can feel “love” for an organisation, when one’s values resonate with the principles it stands for (although even in such circumstance, one truthfully feels love for the personal relationships built within the organisation, not for the external framework per se…) But is it possible for any institution to feel “love” for the individual?

One obvious red flag of pendulums is their aggressive nature towards the adherents of other pendulums. If you are with “us”, you are “honourable, devoted, righteous”. If not, not so much…The aggression towards another may be explicit and pervasive, or passive, nearly imperceptible, like an undercurrent, gradually eating at the limestone.

The other pendulums are portrayed as “dangerous”, suggesting that going with the flow of the “right” pendulum is safe, comfortable, experienced and known. Taking any other position could have unpredictable consequences, because it is not scripted. Try defying the known, the sure, the prophesied and the stakes go Abinadi high...

The pendulums vehemently oppose those that remove themselves from their immediate influence and spell. Such “brash fools” are typically called to “repentance” of one sort or another. The pendulum can even take on a kindly stance in the attempt to coax a person back into submission. But really, it isn’t so much the condition of one’s heart that is in question. Only the pendulum’s ability to have impact and control.

The Tugs and Pulls

Pendulums are infamously good at manipulating others, be it through fear, guilt and shame or by tugging at the close to heart strings of duty and obligation.Skillfully disguising themselves behind "thou shalts” and “shoulds” they demand being honoured, complied to, defying the fact that Honour is only given to someone honour-worthy and obedience can be another term for abdication of Choice.

Pendulums have a tendency to mask themselves behind lofty ideas. They tap into human emotion, the drive to strive, to be a person of principle, to give, love, sacrifice. Pendulums promote single-sidedness, be it through patriotism, commitment or other means of exclusive devotion. An illusion is created that the followers are acting out of personal values, their free will. Yet all the while carrying out the purpose and work of the pendulum sway, a foreign entity that has “a mind” and agenda of its own. And the adherents get little if anything in return…

The pendulums establish a set of rules one must obey and conform to. Obey the rules, adopt beliefs and mindset, and you have the pendulum’s protection, admiration and approval. In the space of the pendulum ‘“you are not alone”. Defy the rules and find yourself “unworthy” of support and commaradory of the “elect”.

Screwed

When a follower refuses to continue to feed the pendulum, he is discarded as a broken piece of  machinery, useless as a stripped screw. The enormous mechanism prides itself on the ability to function without the aforementioned hardware, rolling on over like a bus that doesn’t care that someone got caught under it.

The pendulums purposely turn a blind eye to the fact that “the discarded” have actually achieved a greater level of Awareness and personal Freedom. They don’t need the machine to function because they are finally free to thrive, liberated from the external force of wheels and spindles. They can strive for personal goals, not the ones superimposed from without, discerning for themselves which guidance is divine and who is really now “missing a screw”...

Oh, how much you owe

When an adherent persists in his or her resistance and is disaffected, the pendulum reveals its true colours by aggressively destroying a former part of the whole, either through   dismemberment, isolation or other tactics of psychological warfare.Insisting that one act “appropriately” at least out of obligation, the pendulums are quick to point out just how much one “owes” to them.  While it is true that some pendulums have served as rocking cradles of our very existence, there is no need to stay in the crib if one has matured or to slumber in what has now become Procrustes bed.

Pendulums thrive on the soil of self-proclaimed importance. They take on the irreplaceable role of ones with the exclusive ability to perform a “world saving” task. Standing tall on the soapboxes of their own making, they claim to be a light that cannot be “hid under a bushel”. In the grand scheme of things such light is nothing but a flicker, a spark off the side of a matchbox strong enough only to set on fire the immediately surrounding kindling, nothing more…

Man’s search for meaning and importance is acute, intense. We refuse to breathe in and out each day without a reason, a divine design. And because of it, are prone to exaggeration and seeing importance and significance where there is none. In the words of Alexander Pushkin, “ we regard others as zeroes, and ourselves as ones”. The more zeroes one puts after his “ones”, the more he is prone to be influenced by pendulums, consciously or not…

Tribe and Vibe

It is human to look for the nearest “bird of the feather”. A nightingale finds out very quickly that his song doesn’t resonate neither with the heavy bark of a crow, nor with the squabbling clucks of the chickens. Pendulums tend to drown out all voices with their fear-instilling “never mores”, preventing others from attuning to anything else.  Once the thought patterns of the adherent are attuned to the pendulum’s vibration, it will have a hold. But being free of one pendulum gives no protection from another… The choice to tune out the crow is always ours. But so is attuning to the loud excitement of a chicken fight.

Pendulums occur both within a macro space of nations and countries, but find plentiful fodder on a micro scale of groups, communities and families. As long as there are those willing to play their game, the game is on…

In the coming days, as the breaking off into groups continues,it is not unreasonable to expect an emergence of what one would call a Zion-archy, where a group of like-minded people are certain what the ideal looks like and how it is to be achieved. In their certainty they feel justified to demand compliance. In essence, such environments have a strong potential and likelihood of assuming a pendulum stance. “Consecrate - or leave”. “Are you with us or with them?” As if to suggest that “them” could possibly be part of Zion speak and “Zion-acular”...

Pro AND Contra

On the school yard of mortality identifying a bully that’s trying to be inconspicuous is an accomplishment. But disarming one, rendering him benign is by far a greater feat!!!

The pendulum’s main goal is to captivate the attention of others. The individual is voluntarily giving up their energy to the pendulum when their thought patterns are radiating at the same frequency as that of the pendulum. You become aggravated by an issue, emit negative energy at the frequency of the pendulum and it swings harder.

The pendulum uses the energy of the opponents because it only cares about interaction and engagement, sinking its vicious teeth into the energetic field of all in its sphere. Like a swing, pushed from the front and the back, the pendulum continues to gain momentum when we generously feed it our fear, anxiety, hatred or disdain. Thus both the supporters and the opponents propagate the pendulum's existence and keep it in motion!!!!!

Pendulums target the external, the collective and wade knee high in either future or the past. What would happen if our focus and energy were directed Inward, Individually and in the Now?
